God won’t give you more than you can handle.
I have heard that so many times this week. First talking with a friend at church, then on Facebook today.
I don’t like that term. I wanted to say hate – but up until 6 years ago? I firmly believed it. It makes sense to the human side of me right? I mean, God is merciful right? God is patient right? God is loving right?
Then a pastor asked me something that rocked my world: if God won’t give you anything more than you can handle, how is HE supposed to work in your life?
Holy stinking crap. The light went off…or is it on? whatever. I understood what he was saying. Of course God is gonna give you more than you can handle. How else are you gonna learn of Gods grace (2 Cor 12:9)?
How else are you gonna learn of His true love for you (Psalm 147:2-3)?
How else are you gonna learn of His protection (Psalm 91)?
I think it’s so hard for people to grasp that idea, God allows pain. But it’s not that God allows pain just for pains sake. He is teaching us something. He allows us to suffer to show us something.
What it is I can’t tell you. I can only say about my life. He is Teaching me, especially through this mental illness – I CAN NOT do a thing without Him.
